Yoga for Those Who Are Just Beginning

A gentle practice to ease into yoga

This 28-minute class is a wonderful introduction into a yoga practice!

After I completed my teacher training in 2015, I taught at the studio where I had trained. They had a very specific model for teaching - to have consistent class levels so that every student walking into the studio would know exactly what to expect out of each class. There were particular poses for each level and it very much became routine. I think when it comes to our nervous systems, it can be very calming to know what’s coming next in class and this model did a great job of that.

Today’s class would be part of what was considered a “Basics” class at that studio. There are no fancy poses, but it’ll introduce you to the movement concept and certain key poses that are often used in classes. If you’ve ever head yourself think or say, “I’m not flexible enough…” “I’m not strong enough…” “I don’t know anything about yoga…” or any other common misconception, this is a great place to start for you!

Props that are always welcome for any practice, but not necessary if you don’t have them:

  • A bolster or pillow

  • Yoga blocks (or stacks of books)

  • Strap (or belt from a robe)

  • Blanket

Feel free to get creative with things around your house that can do the trick.

As always, I’m here for any questions you may have! Have fun practicing!
