Hamstring Strengthen and Release

A 33-minute vinyasa yoga practice

Hello and happy Monday, my friends!

Last week’s mid-week New Year start just wasn’t cutting it for me so I’m considering today the true fresh beginning. I so enjoyed our holiday down time, but with two mid-week holidays back to back, I’m very much looking forward to getting back to routine.

We start January off with a 33-minute vinyasa practice focused on the hamstrings - both strengthening and releasing. The hamstrings, or the muscles in the backs of the thighs, do so much for us and while we often spend a lot of time releasing and stretching our hamstrings and entire posterior chain in a typical yoga class, it’s important that we strengthen them too.

Hot Tip: In fact, if your hamstrings are feeling extra tight and it feels as though no amount of stretching seems to help, you probably need to strengthen them!

Props that may be helpful for this class if you’d like them:

  • Two blocks (or stack of books or cans of vegetables or jars of sauce, you get the idea)

Let me know how it goes in the comments below!

I’m planning out future classes and I’d love to hear from you - what would you like to work on in class? Is there a particular pose you’d love to practice or learn about how to build to? Is there a specific part of the body that you’d like to spend some time with? Want more cozy restorative? Holler at me with your requests!
